Two labs, a five-year-old and a two-year-old, got trapped in an underground pipe in Fallbrook, California. Both dogs were rescued and are now safe in the hands of the folks at a Carlsbad County Animal Services facility.
Laurie Joniaux, the County Animal Services Director, believes the dogs were stuck in the pipe for three days! The two lucky dogs were rescued after a man heard them whimpering, at first he didn’t think much about it by when he heard the whimpering again later, he decided to investigate. Part of the pipe had to be cut away to get the dogs out.
County Animal Services was then called in, and an animal control officer helped dig the dogs out! Neither dog was injured, but they were both hungry and dehydrated. Officials believe the dogs fell into the pipe at an opening at the top of the hill that connects to a large storm drain.
