Some dogs don’t have the luxury of being raised in a home by a loving family. Sometimes, dogs are just used for breeding purposes, and they can end up in hoarding situations.
This happened to Valentine a Dalmatian/Pit-Bull mix, who lived the beginning of her life in one of these hoarding cases. She didn’t have comfort, safety, and was barely getting through the days.
Valentine was lucky enough to get rescued. A couple was thinking about adopting her, so they set up a meet-and-greet. When Valentine stepped foot into their home, she was visibly confused and unsure of what to do.
This was a new and scary environment for her. She was shy, and she didn’t open up, so the couple didn’t get to see her personality shine through. It was clear that she was crushed.
Ashley Moses and her fiancé weren’t sure if they could handle Valentine. They knew she needed special care to overcome her trauma. But they decided to adopt her anyway. They felt like they had to try.
The day with her new family was overwhelming for Valentine. She was scared and wasn’t ready to trust people. But things quickly turned around. the next day, she was already confidently walking around. She quickly fell in love with her parents and didn’t hesitate to show them affection.
She acted like a different home. Clearly, she understood that she was finally home. Over the next few months, her parents helped her overcome fears caused by her past life. She began exploring the world, learning new tricks, and she was happier and healthier than ever.
