Trooper now wags his tail happily, energetically and free, a complete turnaround from a few weeks ago when the beagle was rescued from the side of the road, bloody and scarred!
The 4-year-old dog was spotted on Gilbert Road in Hamilton Township, PA by a Chambersburg resident, who checked on the dog and realizing something wasn’t right, called police.
Trooper Matthew Recinski arrived and rushed the dog to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter because he had no collar, tag or microchip for identification.
After being examined at the animal shelter, Trooper was immediately transported to a local veterinarian because of his critical condition. It’s believed he was the victim of a bad tethering situation and he also endured a bite of some kind from another animal. Lucky for Trooper, he ended up in the right hands!

Despite everything Trooper has been through, he still loves people. That tail seems to constantly be wagging and he reportedly just loves to be around people and in a lap. He is set to be neutered and then adopted out.
