According to a research analysis by the PDSA Animal Wellbeing, more than 12% of dogs in the United Kingdom (UK) are not regularly walked by their parents. Many dog parents may be under-or over-exercising their pet. A half an hour to two hours of physical exercise can benefit your dog.

The breed is one of the crucial factors to consider when determining how long you should walk your dog. The reason, some species require more exercise compared to others. Breeds that only require 30 minutes of daily exercise include Chihuahua, Maltese, Bichon Frise, Pomeranian, Yorkshire Terriers, Miniature Dachshunds, and King Charles Spaniel.

The following breeds need one hour of daily physical activity; Shih Tzu, Bull Terrier, English Bulldog, Cocker Spaniel, Pug, Miniature Schnauzer, and Miniature Poodle. However, it is recommended that the following breeds acquire more than two regular exercise hours: German Shepherd, Border Collie, Golden Retriever, Siberian Husky, Dalmatian, Boxer, and Labrador Retriever.
