Sad Pup Who Was Chained So Tight Gets Rescued On Time By Heroes

Back in October, a woman was shocked when she chanced upon a pit bull mix pup tied by a very short chain outside a home. The 3-year-old pup, named Totopo, was attached to a chain so short that he could not lie down, instead leaning against it in order to rest. He also didn’t have any access to water, food, or even shelter.

Totopo also looked severely abused. His ears had been cropped shoddily, as though done with a knife or perhaps some scissors. His canine teeth were badly shaved so they were not sharp. He had visible burns over his skin and was covered in mange, and later it would be revealed that he had ringworm, too.

The woman knocked on the door to the house that Totopo was outside of to find out what happened. The pup’s family told her that the innocent pup was chained up because he was enduring punishment for chasing chickens. Naturally, this method of punishment is entirely ineffectual and also very cruel.

The women persuaded the family to surrender the pup to her. They eventually agreed, and Totopo was taken to Riviera Rescue AC’s head, Matteo Saucedo. Saucedo posted a picture of the pup and his terrible condition online. It wasn’t long after that a woman named Lacey, who works with Animal Haven, saw Totopo. Her heart went out to him, and she’d never seen a pup is such awful condition.

Lacey contacted Saucedo, and arrangements were made to bring the pup all the way to New York where Lacey was, thousands of miles away. The Animal Haven crew would then try and find the pup an adopter. When he arrived, Totopo was surprisingly gentle and loving, despite his negative experiences with people. He also had no behavioral issues at all – so his punishments were all unjust!

Now, Totopo is healing up and his fur is slowly growing again. He’s incredibly happy to be free from his abusive situation, and he loves the company of both humans and dogs.

He’s especially fond of hugs, and he can’t wait to find a forever home soon!
