Senior Dog Was Nearly Put Down Because Of Her Skin Condition - Then A Miracle Happened

When Connect A Pet New England cofounder Cecelia Blake received the first shocking message about 10-year-old Shelby the Labrador, it was by a woman enquiring about euthanasia options for the pup.

Shelby had been abandoned by her family due to her skin condition, which required expensive treatment products and a lot of daily maintenance. But as it turned out, Shelby didn’t need to be put down – she was far from dying!

Instead, she had been suffering symptoms of severe neglect; she was thin and malnourished, suffered from several infections and conditions, and was completely starved of love and affection. Blake sought medical treatment for Shelby and fostered her back to health.

Knowing that the old dog’s chances of getting adopted were slim due to her age, Blake was prepared to house Shelby for the rest of the pup’s life. But then the granddaughter of Lillian and Red Bibber spotted Shelby’s story on Facebook and immediately knew she would be a perfect fit for her grandparents.

The Bibbers had been adopting pups for all their lives, giving them a loving home and second chances. Shelby has since settled in to her new home with them, where she loves sleeping, talking, and watching her new Mommy cook in the kitchen.
