Shelter Aims At Keeping Their Pets Healthy And Happy While They Await Their Forever Homes

Remodeling is all the rage! You can update and improve your life with a few tweaks to your home! Great Good is an organization that supports a variety of different charities around the world, one such charity is Rescue Rebuild.

Together with Greater Good, Rescue Rebuild helped Humane Society of West Michigan, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan remodel their facility! Rescue Rebuild understands the needs of dogs and made sure to install playpens for them. The playpens are necessary for a healthy body and attitude. Living in a shelter is not an ideal situation, but if dogs don’t have a place to run and get out their extra energy, they may become depressed and then less likely to be adopted.

The two new playpens were 100’ by 20’ and covered with artificial turf. The turf will help the ground underneath from eroding, and keep the dog’s paws from getting too hot or tired! Then came the slalom pegs, agility steps, and tire tunnels! The work didn’t stop there, the entire shelter was given a new paint job (both inside and outside). Plus, some sound deadening baffles were installed in the kennels to help keep the noise down!

The dogs will be stimulated when they go outside, and then be able to rest peacefully inside! The shelter did see an increase in adoptions since the remodel was done! Consider making a donation of food, blankets, or toys to a shelter in your area. The dogs (and cats) there may appreciate your gesture!
