Shelter Draws Attention To Rescue Dog By Throwing Her A "Pitty Party"

The Surrey Animal Resource Centre in British Columbia, Canada, turned the spotlight on their longest canine resident, Emma, by organizing a party to mark her one-year anniversary at the shelter and draw attention to her in hopes of finding her a forever home.

The shelter rescued Emma on August 1, 2021, and she has been with them ever since, making her the first dog to stay at the shelter for over a year in 7 years.

"Emma is having a PITTY PARTY today!! She has been at the shelter for a year, waiting for that special someone to take her home. So today staff are celebrating her to let her know just how special she is," the shelter took to their Facebook page to announce the party.

The party was a dream one as Emma got treated with a canine-friendly cake, party hats, and a kiddie pool filled with stuffed toys. The shelter described Emma in one Facebook post as "loyal to the core." Although she has difficulty handling social situations, she loves snuggling and going on walks.

Emma needs someone with no kids and no other dogs to adopt her. Thankfully, the party the shelter organized generated some interest in her. Currently, there is a pending application to adopt her. We hope it goes through so she can finally experience the love of a forever home.
