For a shelter pup, life can get lonely and boring. Every day is a waiting game, and each one seems the same as the next.
That’s why the Kitsap Humane Society in Washington launched the Puppuccino Pals program, and it’s just about as magical as it sounds! How does this program work? Well, volunteer Molly Clark makes a lot of the magic happen! Every Tuesday, she takes one shelter pup to the local Starbucks and buys them a yummy Puppuccino, which is a drink on the secret menu.
It’s actually a little cup full of delicious whipped cream! Yum! Now each lucky fur ball gets to take a breather from the tiring shelter atmosphere and get an awesome treat while that happens, plus a fun car ride!
Meanwhile, the Starbucks outlet puts up signs that feature the pup of the week so that customers who come in can learn about them, and may decide to adopt them! In addition, each Puppuccino Pal pup gets featured on the shelter’s Instagram account so that more people can see their adorable faces!
According to Kimberly Cizek Allen, the Kitsap Humane Society’s events and outreach assistant coordinator, the pups absolutely love taking a break from their shelters, and definitely adore Puppucinos! “You can see it in their little eyes as they lick the whipped cream out of the cup,” she says.
What about if a pup can’t go out? Luckily, they’re not left out of the fun! Molly will bring back a Puppuccino for pups who are unable to leave the shelter, and that fur ball gets some play yard time or quiet room time while enjoying his treat. Awesome!
Isn’t this program incredible? Like and share if you think so! And don’t forget to consider adoption when you want a pup of your own!
