Smallbatch Pets Inc. has voluntarily recalled one lot of its frozen dog duckbatch sliders because they might possibly be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria.
Pets who eat salmonella and listeria contaminated food may become lethargic and suffer from diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. However, some pets will only have decreased appetite, fever and possibly some abdominal pain. Moreover, healthy pets can secretly be carriers and can infect other animals and people. Pets who have consumed the contaminated products should be taken to the vet immediately.

If you have handled a contaminated product, you are strongly advised to thoroughly wash your hands and any surface that may have been exposed to the contaminated product. People infected with salmonella and listeria can suffer from nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely can they result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. People who exhibit any of these signs are requested to contact their healthcare providers for further evaluation.

The potentially affected products were distributed to retail food stores in States CA, CO, OR, WA through other pet food retailers and distributors. Between the 23rd of February 2016 to the 10th of March 2016, about 80 cases of this contaminated products were sold. The affected products are sold frozen in 3lbs. bags. During the routine testing by the Food and Drug Administration of a 3lb bag of dog duckbatch sliders, the presence of salmonella and listeria was revealed, leading to a voluntary recall by the company.
