Emily Gray had a very set series of goals in life: graduate college, get a teaching job, and finally, get a dog. Her college rental homes had never allowed pets, and she was eager to adopt shortly after she began teaching at an Oklahoma middle school.
Gray and her students share a great relationship and rapport, so she decided to tell them about her plans to get a pup soon through adoption. Since many of her students love dogs or have pets themselves, they were all very excited and happy to hear about it. And, of course, what they wanted to do is help her to find the perfect pup!

The following day after breaking this news, Gray was surprised to see a meticulously crafted multiple-choice “quiz” on her teaching table. The questionnaire had 19 questions in total, and they were all asking Gray for information that would tell her what kind of dog would be best for her life!

Some of the questions in the little quiz included whether she would need a hypoallergenic pet, how long her pup would be on its own daily, and whether she wanted a wagging tail on her dog.

It was something that required research and effort, and the kids had all banded together to make it for her! Needless to say, Gray was very touched and so proud of their thoughtfulness.

Once she was done with the quiz, results were in: her best options were a border collie, a Labradoodle, or a mixed-breed pup! She was eager to follow through, but then a fellow teacher approached her to tell her something. Some senior neighbors were in need of a brand new home for their pup, named Buddy.

So, Gray went to meet Buddy – and the 2-year-old pup was perfect! He may not be of the suggested breed, but Gray can’t wait to tell her students about her decision. She’s sure they’ll love it just as much as she loves Buddy!
