Terrified Rescue Dog Adopted By Foster Parents Who Fell In Love With Her

Jeju Island in South Korea is home to the Jeju dog, a rare native breed that was saved from extinction in the 1980s. Although the Jeju dog was saved from the brink of extinction, dog cruelty and neglect remain a major problem on the island.

Emily, with the Jeju Animal Rescue Crew, was one of the rescuers who responded to a recent case where 3 mother dogs and 12 puppies were dumped on a farm on the island. The rescuers had to move the dogs to foster homes.

One of the mother dogs, Clementine, was terrified of people and unsure of her foster mom, Lindsay. “When Clementine first went to her foster, she was so so so scared,” Emily said.

Lindsay noticed Clementine’s collar was dirty and seemed uncomfortable, so she helped take it off the terrified dog. It was then Clementine loosened up and started wagging her tail.

All the dogs, including Clementine, were later taken to new foster homes in the U.S. and Canada. Clementine moved in with Sarah and Caleb in Portland, Oregon.

At first, she was terrified in her new home, just like Lindsay’s house. However, Sarah and Caleb worked with her to build her confidence. Soon the foster parents realized they’d fallen in love with her, so they adopted her and made her a member of their family.
