Does your dog roll around on their back in the grass, on the floor, and well, everywhere they possibly can? Of course, they do! They are dogs, and it is part of being a dog!
But, do you know why a dog rolls around like that? Well, it could be that they have an itch that needs to be scratched. Having four paws makes it hard to reach all parts of your back! They may also be marking that area with their scent. Their bodies have scent glands, and they mark areas to make sure that other dogs know that area is taken!
The beagle in this video is doing the back rub on the carpet trick. For a full thirty seconds, we get to see the dog shimmy here and there on the carpet! We are not sure it takes that long to mark an area, but what do we know?!
