The thing about pups is that no matter how small or domesticated they are, they are still in the end predator animals. It is just simply what nature had originally designed them for.
Sure, you could make an argument that we have bred out and eliminated that need to hunt, but you ought to remember that not more than a few decades ago, Dachshunds were used to hunt down rodents in burrows.
And clearly, this Dachshund pup named Zelda remembers her heritage. She had been patiently watching her Mom make this snow bunny, and now that Mom is done, it is time for her to strike! This pup immediately ran over to the snow bunny, and in the video is digging away furiously at it.
There are two ways one could interpret this – either she really doesn’t like bunnies in general, or she sees this as an opportunity to let her instincts take over and try burrowing!
