We’re not quite in fall yet, but regardless of how beautiful summer is with its clear blue skies and sunshine, the heat that it packs along makes us think that the cold weather can’t come soon enough!
There are, however, health issues that are seasonal and can affect pups, especially when they’re older and their health isn’t as good as it used to be.
Chester the Dachshund is an old boy at the age of thirteen, so even though it’s still hot now, his Mom, Christina, is already letting him grow his fur out in anticipation of the cold! As a Dachshund with short legs and a long spine, having joints frozen stiff from the oncoming chill is frankly a nightmare to deal with, so we think this is a smart idea.
Having older pups stay with us is such a blessing, especially when they’ve been with us our whole lives. It’s our duty as their Moms and Dads to make sure they’re as comfortable as possible!
