As we all know, there are plenty of pups in the service of the police or armed forces. As adorable as they are, these pups are doing very important work! Often they were raised from birth and specially selected to become working pups. Some even take the pup’s breeding lines into consideration when choosing a puppy!
After so many years of service, however, it is only right that they get to retire and relax. Often, these decommissioned pups will then become family pets, usually with their original handler or with a good home. Honestly, we think they deserve to rest and just have fun after working for so long!
This German Shepherd, Faust, is part of the K-9 Explosives Detection Unit. In this video, the BNSF Railway Force big goodbye to this hard working pup. After 8 years and a day on the job, he will now become part of his handler’s family.
