Dachshunds are also called wiener dogs, but really that name isn’t really flattering! Dachshunds are scent hound dogs that were bred to hunt badgers, foxes, and rabbits.
Sometimes, a pack of Dachshunds would be used to track down wild boar! They make good small-game hunters, show dogs, or family pets. Because of their size and temperament, Dachshunds make excellent pets for apartments! They do not really tolerate cold weather well but are good dogs for first-time pet parents. Dachshunds are easy to groom and won’t drool!
They are highly intelligent and have a strong prey drive. Furball TV has posted this video of an adorable Dachshund named Jill, she is nine years old and needs a home! Apparently, Jill and her sister were just abandoned by their parents – they were just dropped off at the shelter without a good reason. Jill’s heart was understandably broken. Can you help? Her ID# is A5108962.
