You may have noticed that despite how energetic your pups may be (especially when they get the zoomies!), they seem to sleep a lot. It never seems to be a deep sort of sleep either – they can often be easily aroused from their slumber by the sound of your opening the fridge door. There actually is a reason for this!
Pups don’t sleep as deeply as humans do, and as a trade off require much more sleep than their Dads and Moms will ever need – depending on the age, size, and breed, a pup may need to sleep up to 14 hours a day! As a result, they spend half the day snoozing away.
This may result in some very curious sleeping positions! Pate the Labrador Retriever sleeps in an odd position on the floor – looking at him, you would think it is an awkward, uncomfortable one. Strangely enough, he seems to quite like it!
