In places such as the United States or the Netherlands, there is a law that requires pups to be at least 7 or 8 weeks old and fully weaned from their mother before they can be adopted by prospective parents. This is very important, as it is to ensure that the pup is old enough to be independent before they are taken to their new homes.
Even so, the first few nights can be an incredibly scary adjustment period for the puppy! They are far away from their Mother and their siblings, and everything smells different and foreign. Because of this, breeders usually pack something that has the scent of the puppy’s Mother and siblings, so it has something familiar to comfort itself with.
With some comforting and cuddles, soon you will have a rambunctious puppy exploring the house and licking everyone they like, just like Max the Labrador Retriever!
