This poor German shepherd was spotted by a Longview driver the corner of Harrison Road and Fisher Road. The driver called animal control, and they Animal Control Officer Chris Kemper arrived to the scene to pick up the dog.
CBS reports: “It clearly was a very friendly, well-cared for pup,” Kemper said. “He just was covered in what appeared to be some type of crude oil.”
The shepherd was covered with mud and related stains which could be cleaned easily. But the other part – cleaning the shepherd from the oil stains wasn’t easy.
“From his head all the way down to the tip of his tail to the back of his feet, he was covered black,” Kemper said. “It was thick and just dripping off him. This is going to be a long, long process.”
Luckily, volunteers were able to get him all cleaned up. Nobody is sure how he ended up lost and covered in so much oil, but he has now been reunited with his family after getting a thorough bath! He was a very sweet pup throughout the whole process too.
