This German Shepherd Was Dropped Off at a Shelter, But What Happened Next Surprised Everyone!

This is such a heart touching story! Gemma, a beautiful white German shepherd, had a severe case of a skin disorder called demodectic mange.

Her family dropped her off at the shelter, because they didn’t know what to do with her and had never taken her to a vet. A volunteer at a local animal shelter named Jolene knew she had to do something about it. She brought her home. Jolene was “also an adoption counselor at St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary (a part of Lange Foundation,) an animal rescue based in Canyon Country, took in Gemma and immediately started treatment for her condition. Already having a relationship with Gemma, Jolene took on the nearly 24 hour care of meds and baths. Within weeks, she was clearly healing. Her fur was growing back and she was putting on weight.”

But the incredible story didn’t end there. She had been gaining weight in one area in particular – her tummy. Jolene took her to the vet for an ultrasound and it turned out, Gemma was pregnant with 5 puppies! The puppies were quickly adopted, but Gemma had to stay back to continue healing from her mange.

That is, until one day, Gemma got the forever home she had been dreaming of!
