Did you ever wonder why your dog rolls on the ground? Some say it is instinct, that they roll on the ground like their ancestors did to make their smell so they can sneak up on prey.
Wolves roll in the carcass of an animal or in the droppings of other animals to mask their smell before a hunt. But, modern dogs don’t need to mask their smell, right? But, we do see our dogs roll around in the yard an inside. Our dogs may just be marking the area with their scent to let other dogs know they have been there.
They may also just have an itch they can’t reach! If they do it constantly, your dog may actually have OCD! This twenty-second video features an English bulldog rolling on the floor – probably just had that itch that needed to be scratched!
