Do you remember the history of Pavlov and the dogs he studied? The story is basically this, Pavlov was able to make dogs drool when he played a bell.
The bell had become associated with food. Early on, when he played the bell, the dogs would get food. Eventually, when the dogs heard the bell, they knew that it meant food was coming, so they started to salivate in anticipation! The phenomena became known as classical conditioning.
If you have a dog, you know that the rustle of a plastic bag, the opening of the refrigerator, or when you open a can of tuna – they all make a beeline to your location! They know that they could get some food when they hear those noises! The beagle in this video is sound asleep – but then he hears the food hit the bowl! Pop! He is up and ready to eat!
