This Shelter Worker Is Able to Identify Dogs Blindfolded

The Greensburg & Decatur County Animal Shelter is located on the green plains of Decatur County, Indiana. The shelter has run for several years with the help of volunteers who have had an active role in animal rescues and adoptions.

One of these volunteers is Kasey Cleland, her passion for the shelter’s dogs shone through a blindfold game where she was able to identify the dogs she took care of just by petting them.

Cleland has been working at the shelter five days out of the week for 10 months and through that time she made a conscious effort to spend quality time with the dogs she took care of. Looking forward to her one-year anniversary at the shelter, her coworkers decided to put her to the test.

The challenge that followed involved blindfolding her and then having her identify the dog she was petting. Cleland exercised her knowledge, taking into account each dog’s energy level and the feel of their fur and guessed six out of seven dogs correctly in the first round.

In the second round, she guessed all seven correctly, and the challenge ended with her coworkers and the dogs absolutely elated by the fun the challenge brought. A video was taken of her during the challenge and posted to social media where many viewers complimented her knowledge and her engagement with the dogs as she pet them.

They even went so far as to suggest that the challenge be a series to give the shelter a greater audience that could appreciate how well the dogs are being cared for.
