Car accidents are extremely traumatic for most of us. Even if one escapes with minor injuries, the frightening experience is enough to spook anybody.
As much as we get traumatized, our canine companions may also be shaken up by an accident. This was the case for little Shih-Tzu Poodle mix, Astro. Astro was in a car accident with dog parent, Liyah Young. The two were in a multi-vehicle crash on the interstate. Thankfully, Liyah Young was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. While Liyah was being transported to the hospital, Astro was put in a fire department vehicle to be kept safe for the time being. All was well until somebody accidentally opened a vehicle door and speedy Astro darted out of the vehicle and was on the run.
Montgomery Fire and Rescue Captain, Don Yingling, said this precious pooch was sprinting up the closed interstate. As they were about to catch the speedy dog, Astro managed to cross over and started running into oncoming traffic. Although they say cats have nine lives, little Astro certainly defied a few near-death experiences. He even ran under a moving car and managed to run out unscathed. When Astro got frightened in front of a semi-trailer tractor, he ran up a hill where officials managed to catch him.
The whole chase took a good seven minutes, even with physically fit officers! Little Astro was clearly determined to make his break, but luckily, he is safe and sound. The poor pooch was most likely traumatized from the commotion that had happened that day and we can’t help but wish them the best!
