During the COVID lockdown, Egbert was sent to a vet by his family to be euthanized. The poor pup, who was only two years old then, was suffering from mange, anemia, and tick bite fever, among other issues.
Egbert was lonely and depressed. He didn’t know his family sent him to the vet to end it all. Thankfully, the vet didn’t go through with the euthanizing. Instead, he contacted a dog rescue, Sidewalk Specials, for assistance.
Sidewalk Specials rallied around and were able to raise money from generous donors to foot the bill for Egbert’s treatments.
It didn’t take long for Egbert to recover fully after receiving treatment and some TLC. After his recovery, Sidewalk Specials shifted their focus to helping him find a lovely forever home.
One day, a family came along and adopted Egbert. They renamed him Dusty and welcomed him to their home with open arms.
Today, the sweet pup is happier than ever. Dusty’s new family spoils him with treats, toys, and birthday presents. The family also has another dog; they all play together and get along well.
Thanks to the vet’s decision to give him a second chance and Sidewalk Specials, who funded his treatment, Dusty’s life was transformed for good, and he’s living his best life now.
