Firefighters RESCUE Golden Retriever from Icy Suburban Pond!

These brave firefighters recorded the tense moments as a Golden retriever was rescued after falling through an icy pond in southwest suburban Aurora.

According to NBC Chicago:

“On Tuesday just before 9 p.m., the dog’s parent called 911 after he spotted his dog struggling in an open area of the frozen pond in the backyard, according to the Aurora Fire Department. The dog, named Houdini, was in the water for approximately 30-45 minutes before the human realized he was in trouble.”

After arriving on the scene, the brave firefighters were able to rescue the golden retriever! It’s a good thing too! Falling into icy water can be a big problem for any animal. It’s always a good idea to keep your fur kid leashed around frozen water so they don’t wander out to thin ice. The part that often gets animals in trouble is the edges of water freeze first so it may seem to be secure the first couple steps, but as you get further towards the middle, the ice may not be completely frozen.

We are so glad this ended with a happy ending for this golden!
