Police Save German Shepherd Stranded On Highway!

It seems that seven-year-old Lexi, a friendly and adventurous German shepherd, broke free from her fenced backyard on Wednesday in Methuen, Massachusetts and ended up loping down Interstate 495 tying up traffic.

Early in the afternoon, the State Police Barracks in Andover received reports from motorists about a large black dog walking in the travel lanes on the southbound side of the busy highway.

The dog had dangerously been darting in and out of traffic through all three lanes. Troopers Malachy Higgins and Dana Atkinson responded to the call, and tried to escort the wayward pooch off the exit ramp, but Lexi had other ideas.

The shepherd ran into traffic, and that’s when troopers had to close all lanes to traffic in order to keep her safe as well as motorists.
