Hoarding incidents are more common than they should be, but, unfortunately, they are a reality that all animals rescues have to face. The Virginia Beach Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (VBSPCA) had to deal with a hoarding situation not too long ago.
And they are now asking for help so they can properly manage the 45 dogs they managed to rescue. Over 100 dogs were living inside a home. They were kept in horrendous conditions, many of them injured or at risk of dying. They were all scared, malnourished, and dirty, and they have never even been outside the house before they were rescued.
All of the dogs were rescued, with various different organizations stepping in to take as many of them as they can. The 45 dogs who were taken in by the VBSPCA are being examined by veterinarians and given all the medical care they need.
They will stay at the rescue until they are healthy enough to be adopted by loving families. The rescue asks people who are interested in any of these dogs to keep an eye on their website to see when the dogs become available for adoption.
Right now, the shelter is in dire need of supplies, as there are operating at full capacity. They need food, towels, blankets, and other dog supplies. If you can’t donate supplies, donate a few dollars. Every donation can make all the difference for these dogs. You can donate through the VBSPCA website.
If you can’t to donate, try sharing this story online, or tell your friends about it. Animal shelters wouldn’t be able to operate without the help of the community, so any gesture matters.
