Volunteer Comes Up With A Brilliant Plan To Ensure All Shelter Pups Have Beds!

Shelters across the country are busy places (pets coming in and out all the time) – and they have a lot of dirty laundry on top of it all!

If the shelter didn’t have a ton of laundry that probably meant that the cats and dogs living there had no beds. Scott Poore has volunteered four to five hours every day at animal shelters in the Kansas City area for the past three years. Recently, Poore found a solution to this dirty problem shared by animal shelters – bath mats. In an interview, Poore said that he saw the bath mats and realized they are durable, absorbent, and best of all comfortable.

He thought if the shelters could replace the towels, sheets, and blankets they currently use with bath mats it would improve the lives of the shelter animals. The GoFundMe campaign he started had an initial (modest) goal of $8,000 so that bath mats could be purchased for all animals living in a shelter in the Kansas City metro area. It only took a few days for Poore to get that amount, so he set the bar a little higher.

Poore has aspirations to make this project grow for Kansas and Missouri and to the Midwest. Ikea has donated $3,000 to help the shelter animals! When he is not volunteering his time, Poore run Adopt Don’t Shop KC, his own business where he sells clothes to raise awareness and money for the cats and dogs who have been languishing in shelters for too long.
