There is no denying how intelligent pups can be, especially for those who come from breeds that were bred specifically to be intelligent!
They are smart enough to recognise certain items and attach associations with them. That is why clicker training works – you get your pup to associate treats with the sound, and use it for positive reinforcement training!
This works with other things as well, however. The easiest example is usually the kitchen with food. For these three German Shepherd pups, it is their blue, plastic wading pool that is associated with water and splash times!
The most enthusiastic of the lot is a puppy so young his ears haven’t stood up straight yet, but he is such a big boy that he is about the same size as his brothers. And when he jumps, he can almost nip the side of the wading pool being pushed over the fence!
