Some pups are born naturally territorial. This often stems from the original purpose behind the breed – many of these pups are born highly possessive, and will fiercely guard any place or persons they consider their own.
An example of this is the famous Shiba Inu, who is often not recommended to first-time owners due to how protective they can get.
It may seem convenient, since you would assume these pups would end up making good guard dogs. This is true, but the problem comes when you want to invite friends and family over. Unless you have properly trained the pup, it is very likely they will see your guests as invaders and will attempt to attack them.
Luckily, judging by the body language of this German Shepherd, this doesn’t seem to be the case. He seems more interested in simply scaring away passers-by, and letting his family know that there’s someone there!
