Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities, or ECAD, was founded by Dale and Lu Picard back in 1955. Lu started the organization after seeing how service dogs enhance the lives of people with disabilities.
Their mission is to give people with disabilities more independence and mobility with the help of trained canines. Today, ECAD is a nonprofit that has training facilities in New York and Connecticut. One of their programs empowers veterans with a dog to help them deal with a variety of combat-related disabilities like traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, or those how have had amputations.
The golden retriever in this video has had a litter of puppies, and they are all at ECAD. You can imagine that all these puppies will be trained and given to a person in need! If you can, consider making a donation to ECAD so they can continue their work!
