Socialization for puppies is incredibly important – it builds their confidence in otherwise foreign and scary situations, people, and other pups by associating positive rewards (such as treats) with these events!
It also teaches them the appropriate response and behaviour to such events, so your guests don’t have to deal with a pup who doesn’t know their size jumping up on them as a greeting!
As parents, one of the socialization activities you may want to do with your pups is teaching them how to approach slides! Pups greatly prefer even footing because of how unbalanced they feel on a slope, so a slide can actually be a bit of a challenge for them!
This Dad is trying to get his Beagle pups, Milo and Cooper, to try the makeshift slide he has made for them. One of them bravely takes to the slide to get their treat on the other end, but the other just sits down and makes a grumpy face instead!
