As people who are passionate about pooches are aware of, pups are predatory animals with a prey drive. What this means is that most pups will instinctively want to go after mammals that are smaller than them. In their brain, the need to chase after that squirrel dashing across the backyard is hardwired into their brain!

This means that when this Beagle puppy notices this rabbit toy, she immediately gives it her full attention. It is clear that she initially is more curious than interested in going after it, since she is quite comfortable where she is by her Mom’s foot.

But surprise – the toy squeaks as well! Suddenly it seems less like a toy Mom is playing with and maybe a prey animal that might be alive. This seems to have kicked this pup’s hunting instincts into gear, because soon she can’t help herself and pounces – landing right on Mom’s stomach. Oof!
