Owning multiple pets of different species is a situation ripe for all sorts of interesting interactions!
The more common clash of species is probably pups and cats – for pups, smaller creatures like cats can activate their prey drive. For cats, well. They normally seem just pretty annoyed by it all, to tell you the truth. And this in addition to the whole language barrier across species!
Thus, it usually helps when you raise a pup and a cat together, or the two were separately socialized to understand and deal with the other species. It definitely makes for a much more comfortable and calm living environment! But that doesn’t mean that either animal won’t get up to antics!
