What's The Best Way To Wash Your Dog's Toys?

Getting your dog toys to play is just one part of the job. The other part of the job is ensuring that they remain clean and safe for use. And it’s not a hard thing to do. But, there are a few dos and don’ts that every dog parent should know when it comes to washing their dog’s toys.

One of the most important ones is to never use the same cleaning products you use in the kitchen or bathroom to clean the dog toys. This is because most of them contain chemicals, dyes, and fragrances that can harm your dog’s health. Instead, we recommend that you use natural products such as baking soda and white vinegar.

And then when it comes to the actual cleaning here is what we recommend:

For the soft and fluffy toys use the washing machine. Sprinkle a little baking powder into each toy before putting them in the washing machine and then run them through one cycle. Add one or two tablespoons of vinegar during the rinse cycle to complete the cleaning process. Make sure that you air dry the toys before handing them back to your pup.

For the plastic and rubber toys, use the dishwasher. You don’t even need to scrub. Just add a little vinegar to the machine, load up the toys on the top rack of the washer and run them through one cycle.

But what if I don’t have a dishwasher or a washing machine? Soak the toys. Fill a bucket or the sink with equal portions of water and white vinegar, sprinkle a little baking powder into each toy, and them soak.

Once that’s done, press the toys to remove excess water and then let them air dry.

Simple and easy!
