When dogs were wild generations upon generations ago, they would hide their food cache in a secret, well-covered spot, protecting it from other animals and making sure it would be safe when they came back for it later. Today, it’s no longer a necessary behavior, but some pups still act on these embedded instincts!
This beagle pup has a great piece of food with him, and he wants to save it for later. But how can he make sure no one finds it? He decides to dig a hole in the snowy ground and place the food there, carrying it over in his mouth and dropping it in. Then, he uses his nose to push the snow over it, covering the treat entirely. Well done!
Not only is this pup’s food hidden, but it’s also kept fresh in winter’s natural refrigerator! Satisfied with his work, the pup carries on, knowing he can come back for his yummy treat later!
