As any Mom or Dad will know after trying to yank back their pup before they go lunging after a darting squirrel, pups as a species are equipped with a prey drive.
This means that they have an instinctual need to go hunting down after creatures that are smaller than them. Often this can lead to some small pups having far too much gusto in taking on an opponent way too big for them!
For pups such as Sandy the Beagle pup, this prey drive is even more of an issue. Because Sandy’s breed was originally selectively bred to be hunters, her prey drive is tuned much higher than the average pup’s prey drive. So when she spots through the window a bunny hanging out in the garden, she goes absolutely bonkers!
She’s barking and trying her best to get at the bunny. It is likely that if the window was open, she might just jump down an entire storey to get to it!
