Woman Graciously Helps Pit Bull Find A Home After Two-Year Wait In Remote Shelter

Drools, a pit bull who’s been waiting for two years in the remote Conour Animal Shelter in Monte Vista, Colorado, finally found his forever family, thanks to Relay For Rescue Founder and Executive Director Kacey Widetich, who decided to move in at the shelter last October 22 to help Drools get adopted.

Although wonderful with people and enjoys cuddling, the four-year-old canine just wasn’t getting adopted after many years of waiting at the southern Colorado shelter.

Widetich, who made a gracious decision to live at the shelter, wasted no time in helping Drools find a forever home by taking and posting lots of photos and videos of the dog on social media. This led to the dog’s appearance in People magazine and feature in websites even as far as Australia.

Widetich stayed at the shelter for 12 nights and saw how the facility was understaffed and unable to amply promote the lovable dogs. Because of the marketing effort she put in, a man from Boulder read about Drools and decided to drive to the shelter to adopt the pit bull.

Overjoyed at finally seeing Drools adopted, Widetich did not limit her efforts on Drools and was able to find three other pups their respective homes during her stay.

“If my spending the night…helps even one dog get adopted, I will have done my job,” Widetech said, “They all deserve a second chance at happily ever after.”

Everyone loves a happy ending!
