When a rescue group hurried to pick up a big group of pups that had been dumped on a West Virginia mountainside, one particularly terrified pup ran away and eluded them. They tried to find her, but after many attempts turned up empty, they had no choice but to let her go.
That’s when Jace Rowe, a military woman who was coming down from an armory further up the mountain, spotted the poor pup. She was frightened and alone, and Rowe knew she had to help her.
So she slowly exited her car and tried to approach the pup. The dog immediately seemed to sense that she was safe and walked right up to her and asked for pets and affection.
Rowe gave the pup some attention before gently bringing her into her car. The pup was covered in mange, had a cut on one of her ears, and had a back paw that seemed infected. She was also very thin and hungry.
But despite everything she’d been through, she just wanted to snuggle with Rowe. Despite her timidness, she was clearly a sweet and loving pup! Rowe took the pup to a vet, where she was treated, spayed, and cleaned.
Rowe then set about trying to find the pup a home. The first family who took her in returned her the next day, and Rowe and her mother kept trying to find a potential family on social media. Finally, one of Rowe’s friends and her boyfriend stumbled upon the picture of the pup and couldn’t get her out of their minds!
And so, this shy but sweet dog found a forever home, complete with two fellow – and larger – pup siblings. She was given the name Lil One and immediately fell in love with everyone in the home, especially Rowe’s friend’s boyfriend.
Lil One and her new Dad formed a very close bond from the get-go! Now, Lil One is learning how to truly be a pup, and she’s gaining weight, getting healthy, and feeling much happier.
