One of the most gut-wrenching, heart-breaking feelings is when you come home to find your yard empty. Your canine companion is nowhere to be found, and your intensive search still leaves you empty-handed.
One could quite easily say it feels like losing a family member. When a dog runs away, it feels like a part of you runs away too. The King family in Washington was faced with this very situation when their four-legged family member Katie ran away from home.
One day when the couple came home from dinner, they noticed their 7-year-old Border Collie, Katy, was nowhere to be found. Worried and anxious, the couple started the frantic search for their beloved dog. They printed posters and handed out over five hundred flyers.
The couple even went so far as to buying night vision goggles so they could search for her at night too. The Kings spread the word on social media, and one of them even gave up their job to search for Katie. With hope growing slimmer by the day, the couple was determined not to give up. Eventually, a man from a nearby neighborhood called the family with news that a dog looking like Katie had been found.
However, when the Kings arrived, the dog was nowhere to be found. This did not get them down, and the Kings decided to walk around and search. They came across a lady walking who pointed them in the direction of a Border Collie they had just seen, and low and behold, it was Katie!
Reunited and happy, Katie’s story reminds us to never give up hope on our canine companions!
