When it comes to building relationships, everyone knows that communication is necessary. That goes for every relationship you have, even the ones you have with your pets.
They have to understand you and what you are trying to convey so that they act accordingly. And you have to understand the signs they give you so that you can take care of them and fulfill their needs.
Trying to train and teach dogs how to listen to commands can be a very frustrating process. Some dogs can be very stubborn, and they will just refuse to listen to you. Some are hard of hearing, or even deaf, so you cannot train them verbally.
But, for this adopted chihuahua named Max, neither of these were at fault for his lack of listening. He wasn’t listening to commands because he only understood Spanish!
Kalee McGee had adopted the 4-year-old dog a few weeks before realizing why they didn’t get along. When she realized the dog only understood Spanish, she had to share this on TikTok. The video quickly went viral. In the video, she explained that she didn’t know why the well-mannered dog wasn’t listening to her commands.
He behaved when on a leash, he knew what a crate was, he even sat down when Kalee had a treat in her hand. But when she told him to “sit” or “come”, he did not react whatsoever. So, she and her husband started joking around, telling him to sit in different languages. When they said it in Spanish, he immediately followed the command.
@kaleemcgee If you judge my laugh that’s rude. if you judge my Spanish that’s fair. #BetterTogetherChallenge #VansCheckerboardDay #fyp #fypシ #fy #dog #spanish
Thanks to Google Translate, Kalee learned a few commands and can now get along with Max better than ever. It turns out he was a “buen chico” all along.
