Woman used Her Rescue Dog As A Front To Sell Drugs

Some people genuinely love dogs and would do anything they can to help them. People usually trust rescuers and don’t stop to think if they are really who they say they are.

That is how a woman who used the facade of being a rescuer got away with animal abuse for so long. But now she is facing charges.

Ruth Rupprecht is a 59-year-old woman who was the owner of Save A Furry Friend Animal Rescue, Inc. An investigation of her started in May 2021 after a puppy died shortly after being adopted from her rescue.

Before the puppy’s death, his parents noticed he was sick and contacted Rupprecht. In return, she sent them a bottle of prescription meds. When asked about the incident, Rupprecht told the police she had received the bottle in the donation box. A new investigation was opened in September.

This time she was investigated for the sale of prescription narcotics from the property, as Rupprecht’s organization was no longer registered as a charitable one. Because of this, it was illegal for her to accept donations. Authorities searched the premises and found more than $20,000 and 100 prescription medication. Rupprecht’s home was messy and there were also dozens of animals living in horrible conditions.

Authorities seized 17 dogs, 28 cats, and a squirrel from the house and took them to a safe place. Unfortunately, a kitten was found dead at the house and another died after being rescued.

Since these incidents, Rupprecht has been arrested and she is going to face consequences for her actions.
