Woman Who Fed Stray Dog For Months Had No Idea She Had A Pleasant Surprise Waiting!

Two years, ago, Laura Sissoko moved to Atlanta, Georgia. She and her dog moved into her brand new woodworking store there, and it wasn’t long before she made a new friend.

Laura often noticed a black dog that hung out on the property, walking around. He was very nervous and didn’t allow her to come close, but since she always saw him, she decided to start leaving him food. Laura called the stray dog Buddy. Buddy was especially nervous when Laura had her dog in her shop with her, which was on most days. He would keep his distance, but he was curious and would always watch them.

A year later, Laura’s dog sadly passed away. Buddy began to feel braver without the other pup around, and soon, he allowed Laura to pet her. Soon, he was greeting her daily, running towards her to say hi when she came to work. But still, he was nervous about being touched and Laura was barely able to ever pet him for long.

Laura decided that, when Buddy fully opened up and trusted her, she would leash him and take him in with her. She remembers his fur being horribly matted and how he looked like no one had cared for him for a long time, so she wanted to give him a home.

But shortly before this plan came to fruition, Buddy just disappeared. Laura was worried about him, wondering what had happened. She often found herself awake at night, anxiously thinking about Buddy.

Months flew by, and then a friend who Laura often talked about Buddy to noticed a post on PAWS Atlanta’s Instagram – a picture that matched Buddy’s exact description. Laura went to check it and recognized Buddy immediately. She ran down the street straight to the shelter!

The moment Laura and Buddy met again, the pup was beyond excited. He began to whine and cry, tail wagging happily. It was clear that he’d missed Laura just as much as she’d missed him. Apparently, the staff at the shelter had been trying to build up Buddy’s trust for months and, when he disappeared, it was when they’d managed to convince him to put on a leash and come with them.

A woman covered Buddy’s adoption fees for Laura out of kindness and in memory of her daughter, and now, Buddy lives at home with Laura and couldn’t be happier. He’s also become a full-time helper at Laura’s woodworking studio and has gotten great at finding good lumber. Every day, he rests his head on her lap while she works, happy to finally have a home to call his own.
