Eyes are very important to most living creatures. They provide vision and are crucial to many everyday activities. The same goes for dogs, and it’s your responsibility to make sure that your dogs have healthy eyes.
Here are five ways to do so:
1. Diet
There are plenty of foods that can provide benefits to a dog’s eyesight. Feed them these snacks in moderation: eggs, broccoli, sweet potatoes, blueberries, pumpkin, garlic, carrots, kale, cold water fish, and tomatoes.
2. Treatment
The moment you notice anything amiss with your dog’s eyes, such as excessive discharge, blinking, redness, swelling, or any other problems, bring them to a vet. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
3. Cleanliness
Keep your dog’s eyes clear of dirt, as their fur can easily catch and retain debris. Uncleaned, this dirt can lead to eye infections.
4. Breed
Different breeds can have a variety of predispositions to different ocular diseases. Talk to your vet to discuss what disorders you have to be on the lookout for in regards to your dog.
5. Car Rides
Dogs love sticking their heads out of cars, but doing so can cause their eyes to dry out, and it can leave their eyes open to flying debris.
