A Smarter, Safer Dog Harness

I just got rid of all my dog’s old harnesses. I’ve tried pretty much everything out there and while I know harnesses are better for most dogs than traditional collars, I have never had one I really felt comfortable with until now. It’s a new harness made by dog trainers to be safe, secure, and provide a positive way for you to communicate with your dog while on walks. It’s called the WaggWalker and it’s the only harness that I trust enough for my dog. If you know me, you know what a headache harnesses have been for my dog, Archie in particular.

The Problem With Most Harnesses

Archie is my sweet and excitable terrier mix who gave me the scare of a lifetime and had me swear off harnesses. It was the last time we used his old back-clipping harness. One moment he was doing his business and the next moment he was loose, running down the street. It was my worst nightmare come to life. I ran after him, calling his name, but he just kept running. He never looked back. As I sprinted after him, he was so fast. I knew I would never be able to keep up with him. I kept going, just trying to keep him in sight. I hoped he wouldn’t get hit by a car. I hoped I would be able to catch him somehow. I hoped these wouldn’t be the last moments I ever saw him. His entire life flashed before my eyes. Thankfully, after what felt like an eternity (but was probably only 10 minutes) he ran up to a man who held onto him until I could catch up. Those were the most terrifying 10 minutes of my life.

After that incident, I re-evaluated our safety tags, harnesses, everything. I swore I would never use a harness by itself again. I started walking him using two leashes – one clipped to his harness, and one clipped to his collar. It wasn’t really practical, he got tangled up a lot, but I didn’t know what else to do. I wasn’t about to risk losing him again. That was when I heard about the WaggWalker.

What Makes The WaggWalker So Special

There are a few things I really like about it:

• It comes with a free safety clip that attaches the harness to your dog’s collar so you always have a back up plan.
• It’s front-clipping, which means it gives you more control than a traditional back-clipping harness.
• The piece of chain on the front provides a way for you to communicate with your dog in a positive way (they hear the sound when you “flick & release”).

Using the WaggWalker has been a totally different walking experience for us. I have more control, We have a way to communicate better so I’m not getting dragged down the street, and most importantly for me, it is secure. These are all things I wasn’t able to achieve with any other harness and for that reason I have totally switched over to the WaggWalker. It’s changed the way we walk and made it a lot more enjoyable.

I haven’t seen WaggWalkers in the pet stores near me. In fact, the trainers that came up with it say they originally created it for their own use but they’ve decided to share and you can get one for your dog here.
