10 Dog Breeds Who’re Nothing Like The Negative Stereotypes Attached To Them (Part 2)

Has it ever happened to you that when you walk your dog, people coming from the opposite direction either pull their children closer to them or give you nasty looks?

This is probably happening because of your dog’s reputation, a reputation that was forced on them by humans who just don’t know any better.

Dogs aren’t born aggressive or dangerous, people make them aggressive and dangerous by abusing them. Their aggressiveness is only a way to protect themselves from further abuse. What we need to realize is that negative stereotypes can hurt dogs and even cost them their lives. Here are some breeds who’re nothing like the negative stereotypes attached to them. Here’s Part 1, in case you missed it.

1. Neapolitan Mastiff

Many people think these dogs are aggressive, fight-starters, and excessive slobberers, but the truth is that these dogs are gentle giants. We’re always reminded to not judge a book by its cover and the same applies to this breed. With proper training and early socialization, these giant lap dogs can be less stubborn.

2. Chow Chow

Thought to be stubborn, aggressive, a proud dog with a bad attitude, the Chow Chow is nothing like that. These dogs require proper training and have to be housed with people who’ve had experience staying with this breed to help them show the world that they’re nothing but loving and loyal. These dogs need to know you’re the boss and that is when they’ll shower you with love, kisses and never-ending cuddles.

3. Poodle

Many people think these dogs are mean and skittish, but the truth is these dogs love to be in peaceful surroundings because they’re quite sensitive. They love to be trained, and much like humans, don’t want to be caught off-guard. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, is it?

4. Siberian Husky

Thought to be stubborn, aggressive and escape artists, these dogs are victims of breeders. Because they’re so popular, they’re often bred in poor environment that leads to temperament issues and aggressiveness. However, when raised in the right environment and provided proper training, these dogs are loving, loyal, intelligent and love puzzles!

5. Alaskan Malamute

Many people think these dogs are aggressive and possessive, but the truth is these are high-energy dogs who love to be physically and mentally stimulated to help them drain their energy. As long as they get enough exercise, they’re amazing dogs to be around!
