Puppies can be skittish and easily frightened, and it’s your job as an owner to help boost their confidence so they grow up to be brave and capable. Here are 5 ways that you can help foster confidence in your puppies.
Take Them To New Places
Don’t just stick to the same walking routes, the same locations, and the same parks. Broaden their horizons and encourage them to bravely explore new places regularly.
Stimulate Their Senses
Train all your puppy’s senses to be well-adjusted by stimulating them. Play loud music or movies, get tracks of city noises, cars, or fireworks, and expose them to different noises. Let them walk across different kinds of floors. Handle them every day and touch their ears, paws, tail, and everywhere else!
Make It Positive
Your dog learns and grows through positive experiences. Don’t try to discourage bad reactions with your own bad reactions. Instead, encourage positive and courageous actions with rewards!
Keep The Environment Controlled
Don’t start by exposing your dog to situations you can’t control. For example, instead of bringing your puppy to the dog park immediately, set up playdates at home in a familiar, safe environment.
Let Them Decide
Never force your puppy to do something they don’t want to do. This will only make them more frightened.
