Age is just a number, and you can be young at heart even as your hair grays. The same goes for dogs. Senior dogs don’t need to feel sluggish and sad. You can help them feel young!
Here are 7 ways to help them feel like puppies once more:
1. Diet
Senior dogs need to eat a healthy diet. It’s up to you if you want to feed them packaged, home cooked, or even raw meals, but what’s important is that they’re getting all the necessary nutrients. Talk to your vet to plan a good diet.
2. Bed
Old dogs need to sleep a lot, often for up to 18 hours per day. In order to protect their joints and bodies, make sure you’ve purchased a good, cushioned bed for them that is easy to clean. Do place it in a quiet location, too.
3. Exercise
Sure, your dog may not be as active in their golden years, but they need to keep moving to prevent disorders from developing. Just go for a simple walk regularly.
4. Teeth
Dental issues and gum problems can be painful and even dangerous to a dog’s organs. Make sure you’re taking good care of their teeth.
5. Train
Continue to teach your dog new tricks and commands to help keep their minds sharp.
6. Play
Keep playing with your dog as they grow older. They need your love and support more than ever!
7. Massage
Massaging your canine companion can help to improve their circulation while reducing random aches and pains.
